14 Dec. 2023 Andre O'Bonsawin A fresh look at "Land Acknowledgment" Dec. 14, 2023 12:00 p.m. Today, we are fortunate to have former Rotary Club of Nipissing Rotarian Andre O'Bonsawin as our speaker. While we know him for his work in marking and public relations during his time in North Bay, Andre has gone on to do exmplary work to improve understanding of Indigenous Peoples. He has had leadership roles with Algonquin College (Ottawa); Actua an organization dedicated to STEM education for Indigenous youth; and, as a consultant. Andre will join us and share with us in order to broaden and deepen our understanding of land acknowledgment.
18 Dec. 2023 Rotary & Big Brothers Big Sisters Delivery Support Dec. 18, 2023 11:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Big Brothers/Big Sisters require assistance with Christmas deliveries to their clients/families. The deliveries include a pre-made turkey dinner as well as gifts. Deliveries will most likely be happening on December 18^th or 20^th and that would work best for Rotary Nipissing help. This sign up is for the December 18th event. Deliveries will be prepped and ready to go - everything will be labeled with appropriate addresses - we are in the process of arranging drop-off with parents/guardians during a time the child/children are not home, as some of these gifts will be wrapped by parents/guardians and given to their children from 'Santa Claus'. If Rotary Nipissing is able to assist, you could give a window for deliveries from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm, however, it most likely will not take until 3:00 PM, as all the deliveries will be local within North Bay.

04 Jan. 2024 Erin Plourde, Access and Inclusion Coordinator Wayfinding at Canadore plus stories of overcoming barriers to pursue an education Jan. 04, 2024 12:00 p.m. This week we will be engaged in a two-part learning experience about Canadore. Our opportunity to help students who are new to the Canadore Campuses is back. We are fortunate to have Erin Ploude with us to inform all of us about the Canadore facilities. Some of us will be helping with "wayfinding" shortly, while we all learn more. As well, Erin will tells us stories of how students overcome barriers to pursuing and education. Looks like a rich program!
